Hi
It's a new year. Already. It's hard to believe, really. I feel like I blinked and the last six months flew by. And I know we always say that, every year we all joke about "where did the year go??". But this year I feel like I've accomplished so much in the last six months that I feel like time has flown by. I moved out, I got a ferret (his name is Freddie), I took some of my favorite photos ever, I got promoted at my day job, a job I love, and I've had so much fun with friends. I've spent absurd amounts of money, (almost) all of it worth it. So now my goal for this new year is to recoup, reset, and keep on going.
And in the spirit of keeping on, I've decided to start a new project for the year in an effort to increase my creativity and client interaction. I plan to take at least one photo every day, and create a simple blog post to go along with it. It can be eloquent or simple, several paragraphs or just a single sentence. The goal is simply to post. Every day. To find one thing in my life or in my work that catches my interest, and then write about my thoughts for the day, or the photo. I want to challenge myself to find new ways to be creative, to master different lighting and situations. Some photos might be with just my phone, others with my camera. (I want to get a second camera this year, something lighter and easier to carry with me for everyday use.) The point isn't perfection, it's growth.
I'm so excited to begin this project and to start sharing my thoughts and work with you all in new ways. I've always loved writing, as well, so this is a fun way to get back to that. So keep an eye on my website and socials for new entries every day!
Love,
Rachel
Today's photo
I woke up late today and decided to go work on some stuff for my website at the café I work at, and happened to bring my camera with me. The inspiration for this project hit me out of nowhere, and I decided to snap a candid of one of my coworkers for the project. I'm really proud of how this turned out and I think it's a great start to the year.
